For your consideration is this vintage paper cutting Silhouette produced and signed by the artist Eva Schönberg. Eva was a prolific Scherenschnitte artist located in Berlin, Germany during the 1920s to 1930s, and this piece will date to that time. Though I have been unsuccessful in locating any copyright information for this artist, the piece could have been titled Lovers in a Carriage. The black paper looks to have been hand cut and is a picture of two lovers within a carriage with Cupid on the back, a heart on the door of the carriage, carriage driver sitting stately on the perch holding the reigns of two stately horses. The ground is finely detailed with grass and there is a canopy of trees and vines, complete with two love birds, surrounding the carriage. It is signed in the lower left hand corner "Eva / (two crossed swords) / Schönberg. The glass is in good overall condition with no chips or cracks observed. There is a slight water stain at the bottom of the artwork. I have been able to dissapate the stain a bit with archival safe solvents, but not 100% removal. The backing of the artwork is cardboard and all are held into place by small nails. A wire has been strung on the backside in order to hang on the wall. The entire frame measures 12.4 inches long x 10 inches high and is landscape oriented. Such a lovely piece of German paper art you won't wish to pass over.Shop with confidence when you shop with us.
