Item Description

Vintage postcard commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (1517–1917). The illustration depicts the historic doors of the Castle Church (Schlosskirche) in Wittenberg, Germany, where Martin Luther is said to have nailed his 95 Theses in 1517. The bronze doors shown in the image were installed in 1858 by King Frederick William IV of Prussia and bear the text of the theses. Printed text and decorative floral elements frame the illustration. Unused, with a divided back.
