Hotel Balmoral was built in 1884 as the intended destination of a newly opened elegant train, the hotel property atop Mt. McGregor encompassed almost a 1,000 acres and was touted as a place for health and relaxation. At its peak, it accommodated 200 guests at a time. The hotel burned to the ground in 1897. The cottage of Mc. Gregor (Hotel Builder/Owner) was the place where General Ulysses Grant died. This fold out hotel card/pamphlet features both the hotel and the cottage where Grant died. Inside you see the dinner menu from 8/25/1888 featuring "Chicken Livers with mushrooms" and "Banana Fitters au Rhum" among other period delicacies. The card measures 6.00 by 3.5 inches when closed.
