Antique postcard featuring the famous RMS Mauretania of the Cunard Line, highlighting its third-class accommodations. The multi-view design includes images of the 3rd Class Entrance Hall, Dining Room, Smoking Room, and 4 Berth Room, with an inset of the great ocean liner at sea and the Cunard Line crest. Printed in Great Britain, divided back, unused. The RMS Mauretania was launched in 1906 and quickly became one of the most celebrated ocean liners in history. A sister ship to the Lusitania, the Mauretania held the Blue Riband for the fastest transatlantic crossing from 1909 to 1929, an incredible 20 years. She served both as a luxury passenger liner and as a troopship during World War I, earning admiration for her speed and reliability. This postcard is particularly interesting because it highlights the third-class accommodations, which were rarely shown in postcards of the era. For many emigrants traveling from Europe to America, ships like the Mauretania were their gateway to a new life. These spaces reflect the ship’s role in mass migration during the early 20th century. After decades of service, the Mauretania was retired in 1934 and scrapped in 1935, but she remains one of the most beloved ships of the golden age of steam.Postcard details:Ship: RMS Mauretania, Cunard LineViews: 3rd Class Entrance Hall, Dining Room, Smoking Room, and 4 Berth RoomPrinted in Great BritainDivided back, unusedEra: Early 20th century (likely 1910s–1920s)Condition: Light toning and edge wear from age; otherwise very good (see scans)Size: Standard 3.5” x 5.5”An excellent collectible for enthusiasts of Cunard Line, RMS Mauretania, transatlantic migration, ocean liner history, and maritime postcards.
