I am selling a collection of postcards from a 40 year collection! It includes real photo postcards, artist signed, auto racing, motorcycles, circus related postcards, halloween postcards and more! Be sure to check out my other auctions for some unique cards!
This card is nice! IT IS AN ORIGINAL RP RPPC REAL PHOTO POST CARD. This card shows the aftermath of a terrible fire at a Barnum & Baily circus. There is rubble everywhere. Men comb through the wreckage. A large tent can be seen in the distance. Front of postcard reads _COPYRIGHT 1910 BY W.J. SCHUSTER, SCHENECTADY NY, BARNUM & BAILEY'S CIRCUS FIRE MAY 21, 1910 SCHENECTADY NY. _
SCHENECTADY, May 21. Barnum Bailey's "Big Top," the main tent of the circus, caught fire here this afternoon from a cigar stump, and burned like an overturned hot-air balloon. Fifteen thousand persons, who filled the seats to overflowing, left the tent in good order. Apparently the only person injured was Mrs. H.J. Wells, who fell from the top tier of seats.
Back of postcard is divided and postally unused as shown. Condition is very good to excellent as shown and guaranteed period and original. Please note, the watermark is not on the original postcard you are purchasing.
