news1 This is an undated but circa 25 years ago origin postcard of Francois Truffaut famous French film director pictured in 1961 in the middle of his created set in the heart of making a movie - the card shows him in a haunting image in front of a scary monument smoking - the postcard is a rare museum souvenir from Switzerland as it was an award winning photo of the era and this postcard was given to visitors in the Swiss Museum when the photo was on display - the photographer was Henri Dauman that captured this incredible image which this postcard was from the exhibition in Switzerland and purchased by a collector who travelled seeking some of the most unique photographic art postcards in history (see all my other items from his collection) and is unused and in mint condition
Though the subjects in front of his lens are some of the most famous people who ever lived, LIFE photographer Henri Dauman managed to create some of the most iconic images of the 20th century without ever becoming a household name. Photographing everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Elvis Presley to Jacqueline Kennedy on the day of her husband's funeral in 1963, Dauman filled the pages of LIFE, _Newsweek_ and the New York _Times_, among other publications, with photos that play like a slideshow of some of the biggest moments in American history and popular culture. Playing with light, shadow and reflection, his particular brand of magic existed in summoning the essence of people whose work was known to many, but whose true selves were known to few.
