_Paddy Barthropp (19202008) was a British RAF pilot born in Dublin and known for his work with the 602, 610, and 91 Squadrons during the Battle Of Britain.  After being shot down over France in 1942, he was captured and became a prisoner of war, but he successfully escaped from captivity twice before being sent to Stalug Luft 3. Barthropp was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) and bar and the Air Force Cross (AFC). _
