You can see B.H. Paul's General Store & Post Office. The name "Monida" is derived from a combination of "Montana" and "Idaho," reflecting the town's location near the border of these two states. The town was founded in the late 19th century as a stop on the Utah and Northern Railway, which was later acquired by the Oregon Short Line Railroad. Monida served as a major transportation hub for the area, with passenger and freight trains passing through the town regularly. In addition to its role in transportation, Monida was also an important center for commerce and mining in the early 20th century. The town was located near several mining camps in the area, and served as a supply and transportation hub for these camps. In the 1920s, a major gold and silver mine was established in the area, which brought additional prosperity to the town. Photographer: Unknown. The corners have light wear.
