NP85 This stunning antique illustrator WW1 postcard of Chancel at Melrose Abbey also featuring its historic based rulers of King David 1st and King Robert is from Victorian born historic art illustrator RP Phillimore described as one of the greatest postcard artists of his time. It was published around 1914 so wartime as this is the pencil date from the owner on reverse.    RP Phillmore's postcards were notable for their distinctive sepia tone, delicate hand-coloring, and historical notes and have great unique character.  I am proud to offer one of the greatest RP Phillimore collections of its kind and please see all his other postcards at my store.
