Jewish Clothing Store L. Friede
Jews in the region into and around wittenberge: friede
Salesman robert friede possessed the company l. Friede at the bahnstrasse 19. He was also the owner of the house. The company was a store for men, ladies and children's clothes. It was manufactured there also according to measurement. Robert friede was born on the 3rd of september 1866 in neuhaldensleben and received on the 24th of september 1892 the citizen right in wittenberge for 21 marks. On the old cemetery the grave kurt friede can be found, born on 21.3.1894 and died on 6.5.1895. This was probably the son of robert friede.
In 1894 Robert Friede became owner of the clothing store of Lewy and Co. in the Bahnstrasse 72. The company announced the enterprise on the 2nd of April and on the 4th it started the activity.
In the address book of 1896 we find Robert Friede as owner of the company L. Friede in the Bahnstraße 19. In 1912 we find in the same address book of Wittenberge the company "L. Friede G.m.b.H Herren-, Damen- und Kinderkonfektion", whose owner was Emil Heymann. Salesman Robert Friede from Berlin N. Woitherstrasse 29/30 was mentioned as owner.
After the First World War the Friedes did not live any longer in Wittenberge. They are probable twisted to Berlin in 1910, because someone called Erwin Friede went to the high school only from April 1910 until September/October 1910. A daughter with the name Erna was born in Wittenberge in 1906. She was murdered by the fascists. In 1924 is Alfred Cohn owner of the business of a total area of 435.85 square meters. During the 30s it was Aryanized by Wilhelm und Charlotte Pieperjohannes.
