A postcard of the watercolor painting _From the Melon Collection_ by the American artist Christopher Hewat.
This postcard was published in 1977 as part of the _Artists' Postcards_ Series I. The original artworks were exhibited at the Drawing Center in New York City in 1977, and then traveled nationally under the auspices of the Smithsonian Institution from 1978 to 1980.
Artists' Postcards was a nonprofit organization established by the J. M. Kaplan Fund in New York in 1977. Artists were commissioned to create original works in the precise dimensions of 4 x 6 inches (102 x 153mm). The quality of printing and the diversity of papers, selected to best suit the original artworks, was outstanding.
