Item Description

This vintage postcard features the S.S. Nimrod, the ship famously used during Ernest Shackleton's British Antarctic Expedition (1907–1909), also known as the Nimrod Expedition. The inset shows a portrait of Lieutenant Ernest Shackleton, the expedition leader. The S.S. Nimrod, originally built as a sealer, was repurposed for polar exploration and played a significant role in Antarctic exploration history. The postcard likely dates to the early 1900s and provides a glimpse into the era of heroic polar expeditions. The postcard was produced after 1907, as indicated by the divided back.
