We have photo matched the image on this original antique real photo postcard to identify the pilot as Morris Rosenbaum, who died in a fatal plane crash in 1911 in Dewitt, Iowa. It was the first airplane fatality in Iowa history. The photo on this card was taken of Morris Rosenbaum at the Dewitt fairgrounds sitting in the same early model Curtiss biplane that crashed, thus implying that the photo was taken shortly before the crash. We have added screenshots to this listing from the Clinton Herald in Clinton County Iowa that match the image on this card.
