Why is it so hard to wake up with narcolepsy?

Narcolepsy's brain's failure to regulate sleep-wake cycles makes waking up difficult. Narcolepsy causes daytime tiredness, abrupt sleep episodes, and nightly sleep disruptions. Hypocretin-producing neurons in the brain, which sustain alertness and wakefulness, are lost. When a narcoleptic wakes up, their brain may still be asleep, making attention difficult. This might cause morning grogginess and disorientation. These symptoms are commonly treated with Modalert 200, which improves wakefulness and function. However, medicine must be used with sleep hygiene and lifestyle changes for best benefits.
